Championed a Data-Driven Medical Response to COVID-19 While Supporting the Local Economy 


  • Supported enhanced medical collaboration and assistance for area nursing homes and protections for other vulnerable populations

  • Led efforts to allocate millions in relief to nonprofits, small-businesses and childcare centers; 

  • Created the Austin Civilian Conservation Corps to provide outdoor, socially-distant work for unemployed Austinites to create infrastructure that makes us more environmentally resilient; such as wildfire mitigation projects, trail maintenance, and flooding prevention

  • Led the effort to increase our funding for EMS resources and community paramedics 

  • Created the Office of the Chief Medical Officer to improve access to physician services and improve clinical oversight

  • Helped to distribute thousands of masks to nonprofits and institutions in District 10

  • Provided individual financial and rental relief through the RISE and RENT programs, supported creative sector relief and advanced utility relief

  • Provided regular, data-informed updates so individuals could make the best choices for their families and businesses.
